9. Non-accessible content

The content on this website listed below is non-accessible for the following reason(s): Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations.

Heading structure issues. There are a few heading structure issues within the website which could make it hard for some users to discern the structure of the page. Information, structure, and relationships conveyed through presentation should be programmatically determined or are available in text.
Content does not reflow. Within referral forms, when viewing on a mobile, the page does not reflow properly when side menus are expanded. Content should be presented without loss of information or functionality, and without requiring scrolling in two dimensions.
Error messaging is not helpful. On the referral forms, error messaging is generic and does not tell users which field the error occurred in.
Unclear accessible labels. Some buttons are missing accessible labels which can mean that they are announced in an unclear way on screen readers.
Error messaging not announced. On the login and register pages, error messaging is announced one error at a time, regardless of how many errors have occurred on the page.

We are working with the supplier of the website to address the non-accessible content raised in points 1,3,4 and 5. Point 2 is a common issue on websites accessed by smaller devices. If the page contents ‘jumps' to the right, click on the "menu" icon.

The content on the online financial assessment listed below is non-accessible for the following reason(s): Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations.

Heading structure issues. Heading elements are not always used sequentially, with visual headings not programmatically marked up. This can make it hard so some users to discern the structure of the page.
Colour contrast is insufficient. The colour contrast of the ‘skip' links is insufficient, which can make the links difficult for some users to perceive.
Keyboard operability issues. The links to navigate between steps in the application process and some other links in the form are not in the tab order – this can make it difficult for keyboard-only users who tab through interactive components on the page.
Link purpose not always clear. Several pages have repeated identical links (e.g., ‘more information') that do not make sense out of context. This may make it difficult for screen reader users to distinguish between the different links.
Focus not visible. On the document upload component on ‘confirm' your details' page, there is no visible focus. This could be disorientating for keyboard only users as they will be unsure which element on the page is active.
Incorrect aria-expanded attribute. The attribute has been used incorrectly in the progress side panel of the calculator. Each section is announced as ‘collapsed' although the default presentation is expanded. This could cause confusion for screen reader users.

We have received an accessibility report, dated 17/05/2023, and have requested details from the supplier for when the issues can be addressed.

We will work with the supplier of the solution to address the non-accessible components listed above.

We will continue to work with the supplier of the website to address the issues raised in this statement, and will update this statement with any fixes scheduled.

This statement was last reviewed on 5/6/2024 and will be reviewed next, on 5/1/2025.
